Year in review

Image
Senior Year Final Blog This year has been quite a roller coaster to say the least. There were many ups and downs along the ride but overall these past 9 months have flown by. I wouldn't say I hated them but at times it defiantly felt like I was just dragging along just trying to get where we are now. Overall this year was pretty fun and different than the rest. 5 Things I have learned this year You have to do what is best for you- Let people do what they want to do Throughout this winter I started to go though a rough patch for multiple different reasons. Each weekend my friends would all hang out and ask for me to come, slowly I just stopped wanting to go. I didn't have much motivation to hang out with that many people all the time, some people slowly would get mad that I wouldn't attend. But all I would want to do is hang out with those I didn't need a social battery for, so that is what I would do. I would go up to MSU some weekends just to hang around and watch movi...

Cumbl Cookie Review

Image
Crumbl Cookie Review This week we did a food review in class. We decided to try Crumbl Cookie. Crumbl is a unique in the way that each week this company changes the flavors of their cookies so they are never the same. We tested out four of these options, and rated them along the way.  #4: Cake Batter Describe the taste: Uncooked cake batter and vanilla funfetti Sweetness level 1-5: 5/5 Favorite thing about it: The way it looked Least favorite thing about it: The entire cookie, especially the frosting. It was just way to much. If you like raw cake batter I would recommend this donut. Out of 5 starts: 0/5 #3: Pink Sugar Describe the taste: Very sweet sugar cookie and artificial strawberry frosting. Sweetness level 1-5: 4.5/5 Favorite thing about it: How dense the cookie was and the flavor was good Least favorite thing about it: How thick the frosting was If you like sugar, I would recommend this donut. Book Review

Every Summer Counts, No Matter How Many Pass How long is too long if it is meant to be? Sometimes love has no expiration date no matter how hard we try to get rid of it.  I recently read the book, “Every Summer After” written by Carley Fortune. This is a fictional romance novel written through the eyes of a girl in two alternating timelines. This book has a direct focus on friendship and how love starts to tie into that as you grow. Friendship is a very important part of a relationship, and this book demonstrates this. It also shows how things take time, and you might not always get it perfect on your first try.  Every Summer After begins with this young girl named Persephone or Percy for short. She is an only child who grew up in the city in Canada. One day when she was 13 her parents decided it would be a good idea to buy a cottage 4 hours away in a small town on a lake. This is where the story mainly takes place. Shortly after arriving she comes to realize her neighbors are...

Habits Matter

Image
Atomic Habits In this weeks blog we focused on what we can do to improve our lives and way to change habits that we have if they are having a negative impact on our lives. Habits are not easy to break, and if you do break it for a small period of time it is easy to fall back into your old habits. Trying to change so much all at once isn't that effective either, taking small steps and making small changes can lead you to the results you want. This week a habit I tried to really focus on was being more productive in everyday things. I started by creating lists of things I had to get done, so as the week went on I didn't just let them slip away. Daily Reflections: Reflection on Monday’s attempt: I think I started well at first. I went home, made some food and got right to work. I bought the rest of my grad card invites and the additional pictures my mom wanted. I didn’t even sit down on my phone until after I was done. But once I got that crossed off my list I sat for a little bit...

Interviewing the one and only Mr. Huizing

Image
Mr. Huizing’s Interview Today I decided to interview Mr. Huizing. Though, I have yet to have an actual class with him, he is very present throughout my week in Mrs. Hodge’s Books and Blogs class. He is a very energetic history teacher here at Rockford High school, and is constantly all over the place. I decided to interview him to learn about his life and experiences as a teacher of 17 years here.  Questions and Answers What made you decide to become a teacher Answer: “First off, my mother was a teacher for 36 years here. Some of my fondest experiences in school were in high school with my classmates and with my teachers. I really just wanted to continue to be in that type of setting when I grew up so I went into education.” What is your favorite part of being a young teacher and closer in age to us than most teachers in this building?  Answer:  “I am not very young anymore, turn 43 this year, got multiple gray hairs in my beard. But I do like to think I am still y...

Punta Cana Travel Blog

Top 5 Moments in Punta Cana- The Grand Palladium Bavaro 5. Karaoke night- Our first official night in the resort we came across some outdoor karaoke. There weren't many people around when we first started, but by the time we left there was an entire crowd. We were dragged in to dance and handed the microphone without an option of saying no. From then on we sang multiple random songs in groups. We all were having a blast, it was a great start to the trip.  4. Nights where we were out and about- Each night was pretty eventful and entertaining. Starting off with dinner, most nights we would get dressed up and go have dinner all together. The best two dinners were the Asian restaurant along with Hibachi night. The food at both of those places were just so much better than any of the buffets combined. After dinner, most nights we would go back and change and then re group somewhere in the resort. We would make our way around the resort and sometimes end up at the casino or sometimes jus...
