Habits Matter
Atomic Habits
In this weeks blog we focused on what we can do to improve our lives and way to change habits that we have if they are having a negative impact on our lives. Habits are not easy to break, and if you do break it for a small period of time it is easy to fall back into your old habits. Trying to change so much all at once isn't that effective either, taking small steps and making small changes can lead you to the results you want. This week a habit I tried to really focus on was being more productive in everyday things. I started by creating lists of things I had to get done, so as the week went on I didn't just let them slip away.
Daily Reflections:
Reflection on Monday’s attempt:
I think I started well at first. I went home, made some food and got right to work. I bought the rest of my grad card invites and the additional pictures my mom wanted. I didn’t even sit down on my phone until after I was done. But once I got that crossed off my list I sat for a little bit before I went onto the next task, which was cleaning my room and putting my clothes away. I set a time limit but slowly pushed it back, but eventually I got it done. I then went to workout and ate dinner and waited for my friend to come over so we could alter her dress, which was also on the list. I then did some homework. Overall I think I stayed on task and did things that needed to be done, before I started to sit around and waste time.
Reflection on Tuesday’s attempt:
Tuesday night was not as productive. It was a rough day at school so as soon as I got home all I wanted to do was take a nap and lay in bed. After I took a little nap I had to go to work. Work was super busy and I didn’t even go on my phone. As soon as I got home I showered and went to bed, not much room to get anything done.
Reflection on Wedneday’s attempt:
Today was a half day and I was somewhat productive. After taking a break once I got home, I went to the mall and did some returns. Once I came home I worked on some school things for next year and tried to figure out my rooming situation for next year. Even though I couldn’t figure it out, I was being productive. Then I worked out and came home and had dinner. After that I wasn’t very productive but it was nice to have a relaxing night.
Reflection on Thursday’s attempt:
I was not as productive today. I didn’t have much work to do, so after going home I just hung around the house and watched some tv. I ended up going to the driving range with my friends Abby and Megan to get some anger out. After that I came home for dinner and took my dog out for a walk. Once I got home I tried to stay off my phone and went out for ice cream and talked with one of my small group leaders. I started to plan for prom and got all of my things ready for the next day. It was overall productive with the things that I needed to do.
