Year in review
Senior Year Final Blog
This year has been quite a roller coaster to say the least. There were many ups and downs along the ride but overall these past 9 months have flown by. I wouldn't say I hated them but at times it defiantly felt like I was just dragging along just trying to get where we are now. Overall this year was pretty fun and different than the rest.
5 Things I have learned this year
You have to do what is best for you- Let people do what they want to do
Throughout this winter I started to go though a rough patch for multiple different reasons. Each weekend my friends would all hang out and ask for me to come, slowly I just stopped wanting to go. I didn't have much motivation to hang out with that many people all the time, some people slowly would get mad that I wouldn't attend. But all I would want to do is hang out with those I didn't need a social battery for, so that is what I would do. I would go up to MSU some weekends just to hang around and watch movies with my friend I grew up with. Just because people would get mad and make fun of me for always ditching, I knew I needed to do what was best for me to get through.
Don't take anything to seriously
We are literally in high school, we haven't even started the hard part of our lives yet so why should we care so much. We are supposed to have fun and just have a good time. Yes mistakes happen, but its a good thing we are still young so why stress so hard about it if it isn't going to matter in 5 years. That is slowly where my mindset went towards in school too, yes it matters but in the long run a test is just a number, and we can't let one stats test determine our whole future and mood.
Don't stay attached to those who don't care
Some people in our lives are only meant to stay for a chapter rather than the whole story and this year has really shown me that. No matter how hard you try and get people to stay and care, sometimes they just don't and you just have to let them be. Having to force someone to care ultimately hurts you more than it does them, so just let go and let them disappear.
Make the best of every situation and don't wish the time away
Some days are long and miserable and there is no way around it, but you can't let everyday turn out the same and slowly ruin you and your mood. We are all forced to be at school everyday so you might as well make the best of it when you can. This year was a lot of lasts for us all, and we have to savor the little moments that come from that and not just wish them all away because it's not like we get to come back next fall and get another chance. There are no more football games, no more school dances, and no more other fun school events to just come to and hang out at, so we have to live in each moment and make the best of all the situations, even if they aren't turning out exactly how we want.
Drama is not worth it to be caught up in
No matter how many times it happens to you the result is always the same. Nobody likes being caught up in drama, it always ends the same and doesn't benefit anyone. People are going to think what they want and you can't control it, even if what they think isn't necessarily true. You have to just find your close friends and stick with them or else you won't have an enjoyable high school experience. Everyone is living life for the first time so we aren't by any means perfect, but that doesn't mean we have to cause issues for no reason and make people turn on people. Long story short drama is not worth it and your life is a lot more enjoyable without constantly having to worry about it.
This year was defiantly one for the books. I had lots of fun and new experiences. If you want to have a good senior year you have to make it good and don't wait for others to make it good for you. Take chances and step outside of your comfort zone because it is the last time you will be around so many familiar people before you have to make a big change in your life. I am safe to say that I am ready for the next chapter of my life but will also miss the parts that I am leaving behind.
