Habits Matter

Atomic Habits In this weeks blog we focused on what we can do to improve our lives and way to change habits that we have if they are having a negative impact on our lives. Habits are not easy to break, and if you do break it for a small period of time it is easy to fall back into your old habits. Trying to change so much all at once isn't that effective either, taking small steps and making small changes can lead you to the results you want. This week a habit I tried to really focus on was being more productive in everyday things. I started by creating lists of things I had to get done, so as the week went on I didn't just let them slip away. Daily Reflections: Reflection on Monday’s attempt: I think I started well at first. I went home, made some food and got right to work. I bought the rest of my grad card invites and the additional pictures my mom wanted. I didn’t even sit down on my phone until after I was done. But once I got that crossed off my list I sat for a little bit...

Interviewing the one and only Mr. Huizing

Mr. Huizing’s Interview Today I decided to interview Mr. Huizing. Though, I have yet to have an actual class with him, he is very present throughout my week in Mrs. Hodge’s Books and Blogs class. He is a very energetic history teacher here at Rockford High school, and is constantly all over the place. I decided to interview him to learn about his life and experiences as a teacher of 17 years here.  Questions and Answers What made you decide to become a teacher Answer: “First off, my mother was a teacher for 36 years here. Some of my fondest experiences in school were in high school with my classmates and with my teachers. I really just wanted to continue to be in that type of setting when I grew up so I went into education.” What is your favorite part of being a young teacher and closer in age to us than most teachers in this building?  Answer:  “I am not very young anymore, turn 43 this year, got multiple gray hairs in my beard. But I do like to think I am still y...

Top 5 Moments in Punta Cana- The Grand Palladium Bavaro 5. Karaoke night- Our first official night in the resort we came across some outdoor karaoke. There weren't many people around when we first started, but by the time we left there was an entire crowd. We were dragged in to dance and handed the microphone without an option of saying no. From then on we sang multiple random songs in groups. We all were having a blast, it was a great start to the trip.  4. Nights where we were out and about- Each night was pretty eventful and entertaining. Starting off with dinner, most nights we would get dressed up and go have dinner all together. The best two dinners were the Asian restaurant along with Hibachi night. The food at both of those places were just so much better than any of the buffets combined. After dinner, most nights we would go back and change and then re group somewhere in the resort. We would make our way around the resort and sometimes end up at the casino or sometimes jus...
